Lately there has been a wave of young independent filmmakers using the font “Futura” to add a hip, inviting sense of style to their films. But if it works for films, why not houses? One foggy afternoon, Brandon Lasko was sitting on a stump, miles into a remote wooded area, with his laptop open. He was entering any kind of URL he could think of that might bring up something to do with futuristic houses. At one point he made a fateful typo and found that the domain futura-house.com was unoccupied. This realization caused some undulations in the young man’s ‘thought meat’ and he came up with the idea of building houses based on hip typefaces. After all, if it can be trusted to convey complex thoughts through the medium of text, why not also use it as the basis for a living space? Such were his thoughts as he picked forest caterpillars off of his pants. This site is a monument to that afternoon among the trees, and also a source for home-related news and info, all in the spirit of futura!
