Replacing sewer line

Sewer lines are something we all depend on but never think about — until something goes wrong and there are gallons of sewage overflow spouting everywhere. It’s essential to keep your home’s plumbing and sewer system in mind and make sure that they are well cared for and maintain. In this case, it’s always better to be safe than sorry. If you suspect or know that your sewer lines need repair or replacement, here’s what you need to know about pipe bursting.

What is pipe bursting?
Generally, when people hear the word “bursting” it is not a good thing, especially when it comes to pipes. However, pipe bursting is actually a method of replacing sewer lines. It’s a form of trenchless sewer line replacement for already buried pipelines. This can be done for different types of pipelines, but it is a popular method for sewer.

How does it work?
There are five different pieces of equipment used in the pipebursting process. They are an expander head, pulling rods, a pulling machine, a retaining device, and a hydraulic machine. This process allows the pipes to be replaced without digging a deep trench the length of the pipe. A new pipe is attached to the expander head, which bursts the already existing pipe so that the other pipe can replace it.

Is it a good method for sewer line repair?
These days, pipe bursting technology has advanced enough that it is a reliable and cost effective method of pipe replacement. Since there is no need to dig a large trench the length of the pipe, pipe bursting is quicker and doesn’t require all of the time or hassle that goes into digging the trench.
