Though we may not always think about them, floors are one of the most used features of any home or building. When buying or building a home, consumers often pay attention to the house’s floors. When remodeling a home, homeowners sometimes get into fierce debates on what kind of carpet patterns to use or tile installation companies to hire. Some companies offer dozens (if not hundreds) of different materials and patterns to choose from. Why all the fuss?

Simply put, there’s more to a floor than meets the eye. Did you know, for example, that floors can affect the price of a house? A recent survey has found that 54% of prospective home buyers would pay more for a home with hardwood floors. Another survey indicated that altogether, 47% of homeowners favor wood floors. Having hardwood flooring, then, has quite a few advantages.

If you prefer carpet, though, then you are not out of luck in finding something just for you. There are an unbelievable number of carpet designs and carpet textures available for home use, and there are quite a few carpet installation companies ready for the job. Carpet is known for being soft, fuzzy, and overall comfortable on the feet. They also come in a variety of colors, which can’t necessarily be said of wood and stones.

If that doesn’t impress you, consider this. Recent studies have suggested that carpets can reduce the allergens found in the air of your home. In Sweden, for example, allergic reactions among the general population increased by 30% as carpet usage went down by 70%. Some see a correlation between the use of carpeting and the presence of allergens in the air.

If you are looking for a new home or trying to remodel your old one, make sure to pay attention to the floors. There’s more to them than being a flat surface. For more information about tile installation and other services, feel free to leave a comment or question at the bottom.
