Simple Projects That Will Improve Your Outdoor Patio

There’s nothing better than laying out on your deck during those balmy summer days. But the colder nights can be cruel to your deck, and once the snow melts away into the spring, you’ll most likely want to make some upgrades to your deck. When looking to spruce up your deck, it can be a little difficult to figure out your first project. Here are a few patio design ideas that will have your deck looking it’s best for the summer.

Make a Small Garden Center

Just because you have a deck, doesn’t mean you can’t have a garden! Adding a garden center is a great way to add that extra touch of nature to your backyard. Bring some flowers, potted bushes, or even vegetables onto your deck, where they can get lots of sun, and you are less likely to forget to water them. Bring out a desk to place all of your gardening supplies, such as tools or seeds, into the drawers.

Put Up a Gate

Installing a gate on your deck adds an element of safety around your deck, making them great for households with small children or animals. Gates turn your deck in to a private, enclosed space for you, your family, and any other guest who stops by. Plus, the railings are a good place to put plants, bird houses, or even a place to set down your drink.

Add Some Outdoor Lighting

Just because it’s dark outside doesn’t mean you have to get off the deck. Adding exterior lights around the deck will help keep the party going all night, without bothering the neighbors. String some outdoor lights around your deck to give it a romantic glow, or install a contemporary, weather resistant lamp bright enough for you to spend the whole night reading that new book you picked up.
