Did you know that the first modern flush toilet was installed at Richmond Palace circa 1600? However, Queen Elizabeth I refused to use it because it was too noisy. Today, however, toilets, as well as many other fixtures, are commonly found in bathrooms. Since bathroom safety should be a top priority when shopping for fixtures, there are two important fixtures that provide bathroom safety for seniors.

1. Walk-in bathtubs. This bathroom fixture allows individuals to safely enter and exit the bathtub. Walk-in baths utilize a door that opens outwardly, and they also typically contain safety rails. These types of tubs can either be freestanding or installed against a wall, and they can even be used as corner bathtubs. Corner bathtubs are large enough to fit two people, which makes them a practical stand-in for a jacuzzi. Since walk-in baths provide several safety features and designs, they offer appropriate bathroom safety for seniors.

2. Pressurized toilets. Pressure-assisted toilets, although more expensive than gravity toilets, do a better job of removing waste with less water. Pressurized toilets feature both an inner and an outer tank, and when the toilet gets flushed, the inner tank uses compressed air to force the water out. This results in a more powerful flush that is less likely to leave waste behind. In addition, since pressurized toilets are designed to clog less frequently because of their powerful flush, seniors do not have to unsafely plunge their toilets as often as they normally would.

Safety should be a top priority when shopping for bathroom fixtures, so two important fixtures have become available. Walk-in bathtubs and pressurized toilets are beneficial in their own ways, and they both contribute to a safer bathroom. As a result, these two types of fixtures provide an appropriate amount of bathroom safety for seniors. Refernce materials.
